Welcome to Gecko Clothing

Inspirie Wales Awards

It’s been a crazy time here at the Terrarium recently. One of the awesome things that has been happening is our shortlisting as a Finalist for IWA (Institute of Welsh Affairs) Inspire Wales Awards, in the Environmentalist category. We were in magnificent company with Lian Carter of Fareshare Cymru and Keith Jones of National Trust Wales. You can see a short video of the nominations here:

Now corny and cliché it may be, but we were just incredibly proud to get that far! The award ceremony was held in Cardiff City Hall, a very grand venue which was which left us in awe and made us feel like the country bumpkins we are. I am not ashamed to tell you that nervous didn't begin to describe my state of mind at the thought of walking through that crowded room and accepting the award on stage! I had been practising a short 30 seconds acceptance speech as we were all advised, but I'm not sure I would of managed to get it out. I had began to relax ever so slightly as everyone up until the award before our category came up hadn't done an acceptance speech and Sod's luck it was only flipping 'Arts & culture' before our category! Of course the winner did a great little acceptance speech met by easy laughter and applause. As if that wasn't enough the wonderful people at IWA decided to dedicate the Environmentalist Award to the memory of the late great Morgan Parry who passed this year... I am not despairing at the incredibly fitting gesture, but now I was under even more pressure to say a few words! In all honesty I wasn't quite sure my legs could do the job they were well versed in. All in all it was a relief when Keith Jones was announced! As awesome as it would of been to bring that award back for Gecko, it unequivocally deserved to go home with Mr Jones. However, now there is gap on our mantel piece. We have a hunger for more RECOGNITION and swanky ceremonies. The bit where I have to talk in front of audiences and camera will get easier right? We want to keep the momentum going and really get Gecko out there so any suggestions on what you think we should put ourselves up for next? We have entered the Free2Network awards and The Pitch 2014 so keep those digits firmly locked! In the meantime here are some pictures from our swanky Award Ceremony début…..
